The Happy
Cruiser is not your average Mei Tai. Its contoured shape makes it perfect for
front facing carries as well as front and back carries. The wide, padded shoulder
straps make it super comfortable without being overpowering. Never heard of
a Mei Tai? No problem...
The Happy Cruiser Mei Tai is a piece of fabric with straps at the top and bottom
to hold your baby close to you. The bottom straps tie around your waist like
an apron and the top straps wrap around you and tie under your babies bum. Clear
as mud? Check out the instructions page to clear it all up. We also include
written instructions with pictures when you purchase a Happy Cruiser.
Want some specifics?
The top straps
are approximately 70" long and the waist straps are approximately 30" long
each. If you would like longer or shorter straps, please let us know. Happy
Cruisers can accommodate most body types.
You can use the
Happy Cruiser from birth until at least 35 pounds (depending on your level of
comfort while holding your child).
You can wear your
baby on your front, back or hip and you can nurse your baby from the front carry.
The top straps
are lightly padded and approximately 6" wide to spread across your shoulders
and spread the baby's weight evenly across your back.
The
Happy Cruiser has a third hidden layer to provide stability.
You can nurse
in the Happy Cruiser from the tummy to tummy or hip position. Some women find
this easier than others, based on the size of their breasts. Loosen the top
straps until your baby is at breast level and retie the straps or you can loosen
your baby and raise your breast to his mouth. The Happy Cruiser does not provide
a lot of side coverage for nursing (especially if you are wearing a t-shirt
that must be pulled up, exposing your sides), so if you are modest, you may
need a cover while nursing.
The top of the
Cruiser has a small, lightly padded, rounded arch to provide support to your
babies head. This is especially helpful for sleeping babies and younger babies
that do not yet have good head control. When you dont need the extra head support,
you can fold the arch down.
The design of
the Happy Cruiser provides a seat for the baby to sit in so that he is not dangling
from his crotch. There have been many studies suggesting that carriers that
are too narrow force all of the weight onto the babies developing spine, which
is unhealthy.
We have 100's of fabrics to choose from. The fabric you choose will be the outside
of the Happy Cruiser. The straps and back of the body will be made of stretch
Sateen, which is 97% cotton and 3% Lycra, unless you prefer Twill or Denim.
The little bit of stretch goes width-wise, so it really hugs your body. If you
prefer Twill or Denim instead of Sateen, please let us know in the NOTES field
when ordering.
For the
straps and back we have Black, Chocolate, Cranberry, and Khaki Sateen in stock.
We have nearly every color of Twill and light/dark Denim. Please email to see
what’s available to coordinate with your fabric selection.
